Join MPB as a Physics Tutor

MPB is always looking for exceptional physics specialists — from AP Physics through Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity. Apply now and teach students globally.

What We Are Looking For

The single most important criterion is subject mastery. MPB covers 71 subjects from GCSE Physics to Quantum Field Theory. Students who come to us are often stuck on problems that have defeated their lecturers’ explanations.

  • Qualifications: Masters or PhD in Physics. BSc from IIT, NIT, IISc, or equivalent for school/undergraduate level. PhD-level expertise preferred for postgraduate subjects.
  • Subject depth: Genuine specialist — able to work through unseen problems, identify where a student’s reasoning goes wrong, and explain the underlying physics (not just recall definitions).
  • Communication clarity: Mathematical rigour is essential but not sufficient. Ability to adapt explanation when the first approach does not land.
  • Reliability: High standard of punctuality and communication. Sessions are booked and paid in advance.
  • English proficiency: All sessions in English. Strong written and spoken English required.

What Working With MPB Involves

MPB’s tutors work as independent freelancers. No fixed salary, no employment contract, no minimum hours commitment. Flexible — many of our tutors are PhD students, postdocs, or working professionals.

  • Platform: Google Meet with two-way whiteboard
  • Format: Private 1:1 only
  • Types: Scheduled (advance booking) and on-demand
  • Post-session: Written notes to student via WhatsApp within 24 hours
  • Rates: You set your own rate within MPB’s guidelines ($20–$35/hr starting; senior specialists may price above)
  • Payment: Per session, after delivery confirmed
  • Matching: Our helpline team brings students to you — no self-marketing needed

How to Apply

Email care@myphysicsbuddy.com with the subject line “Tutor Application — [Your Name] — [Primary Subject]”. Include:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your highest qualification and institution
  3. Subjects you want to teach and the level
  4. Brief description of your tutoring experience (if any)
  5. Your WhatsApp number

Do not send a formal CV unless asked. We respond within 5 business days to schedule your written subject test.

Also teach subjects beyond physics? Mention it — you may be eligible to tutor on our sister platform My Engineering Buddy.

Our Selection Process

We have a two-stage selection process:

Stage 1 — Written subject test: A topic-specific test in your declared subject area. This is not a general quiz — it is exam-level material in your area. We need to see that you know the physics thoroughly, not just passably.

Stage 2 — Practical tutoring assessment: A mock tutoring session in which you explain a concept and work through a problem with one of our team acting as a student. We assess your ability to explain clearly, adapt when the first explanation does not work, and demonstrate the kind of patient, precise teaching that our students need.

Passing Stage 1 does not guarantee passing Stage 2. Many applicants who know their physics thoroughly have not yet developed the communication and pedagogy skills that effective online tutoring requires. If you do not pass the first time, you are welcome to apply again after six months.

MPB and My Engineering Buddy

MPB is operated by the same team as My Engineering Buddy (MEB), which covers 2,800+ subjects beyond physics. If you are a physicist who also teaches mathematics, engineering, data science, or other STEM subjects, you may be eligible to tutor on MEB as well. Mention this in your application and we will consider you for both platforms.
