Getting Started
What is My Physics Buddy?
My Physics Buddy (MPB) is an online tutoring service specialising exclusively in physics. We connect students with private 1:1 physics tutors for live sessions via Google Meet. We cover 71 physics subjects from GCSE and AP Physics to Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity. MPB has been operating since 2008 and has served 10,000+ students. All tutoring is 100% human — no AI is involved in any student-facing interaction.
How do I get started?
WhatsApp us at +91 8971 383660 or email care@myphysicsbuddy.com with your physics subject, your academic level, and what you want to achieve. A real member of our helpline team responds within minutes, 24/7. You do not need to register, create an account, or fill in any forms.
Do I need to register or create an account?
No. There is no registration, no login, and no subscription. You contact us via WhatsApp or email, we match you with the right tutor, you pay, and you start. The entire process is handled through direct communication with our helpline team.
Who responds to my WhatsApp message — a bot or a real person?
A real person. MPB uses zero AI in any student-facing interaction. When you message our WhatsApp, a trained member of our human helpline team reads your message and responds. This is how we maintain the quality of tutor matching — it requires human judgment, not an algorithm.
What subjects does MPB cover?
MPB covers 71 physics subjects spanning every level. At the school and exam end: GCSE Physics, IGCSE Physics, A Level Physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, IB Physics, MCAT Physics, GRE Physics, and national curricula from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the UAE, and beyond. At the advanced end: Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, General Relativity, Condensed Matter Physics, Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Plasma Physics, Mathematical Physics, and more. See the full list on our Subjects page.
Is MPB only for physics or do you cover other subjects too?
MPB is exclusively for physics and closely related subjects such as Mathematical Physics, Computational Physics, Engineering Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Biophysics, and Forensic Physics. For tutoring in other subjects — mathematics, engineering, data science, chemistry, biology, computer science, and 2,800+ more — visit our sister platform My Engineering Buddy (myengineeringbuddy.com). Both platforms are operated by the same team.
How quickly can I get a tutor?
In most cases, we match you with the right tutor within one hour of your first message. For on-demand sessions, some tutors may be available within the same day. For scheduled sessions in specialised advanced subjects, we may need 24–48 hours to arrange the best match. We will always give you a clear timeline when you contact us.
The $1 Trial Session
What is the $1 trial?
New students can have their first 30-minute tutoring session for $1. This is a real session with a real physics tutor on Google Meet — same two-way whiteboard, same subject depth, same experience as a full paid session. It is not a demonstration or a sales call. It is a genuine tutoring session at a near-zero cost so you can experience the quality before committing to regular sessions.
How do I book the $1 trial?
WhatsApp us at +91 8971 383660 with your physics subject and level and say you would like to try the $1 trial. Our team will match you with a suitable tutor, confirm availability, and send you the payment link. The session is confirmed once payment is received.
Is the $1 trial a 20-minute or 30-minute session?
30 minutes. Always 30 minutes. Any reference on older pages to a “20-minute trial” is incorrect and outdated — the correct and current offer is 30 minutes for $1.
What if I am not satisfied with the $1 trial?
We refund your $1 in full, no questions asked. Contact us within 24 hours of the session via WhatsApp or at care@myphysicsbuddy.com and we will process the refund promptly.
Can I choose my tutor for the trial?
You can request a specific tutor if you have someone in mind from our Tutors page, subject to their availability. If you have no preference, our helpline team selects the best available match for your subject and level. 75% of students find their preferred tutor on the first trial session.
Our Physics Tutors
Who are MPB’s tutors?
MPB’s tutors are physics specialists — the majority holding degrees from IITs, NITs, and equivalent top institutions in India, with Masters and PhD qualifications in physics and engineering. They are drawn from the same verified expert pool as our sister platform My Engineering Buddy. Only top-rated physics tutors are featured on MPB. All tutors have passed a subject mastery test and a practical tutoring assessment before joining. You can browse tutor profiles at myphysicsbuddy.com/tutors/.
Are MPB tutors the same as MEB tutors?
For physics subjects, yes. Physics tutors featured on MPB are drawn from the same verified pool as My Engineering Buddy (MEB). MPB features only the top physics specialists from that pool. Both platforms are operated by the same team.
Are MPB tutors employees?
No. MPB’s tutors are freelancers. They work with us on a per-session basis, set their own rates within our guidelines, and are paid for the work they deliver. They are not salaried employees of BlueAura iSolutions Private Limited. This model allows us to work with the best physics specialists without geographical limitation.
How does MPB select and verify its tutors?
Every tutor completes a written subject test in their declared area before being approved. They then go through a practical assessment — a mock tutoring session evaluated for clarity, accuracy, and ability to adapt to the student’s level. Tutors with consistently poor student feedback are removed. We do not keep underperforming tutors on the platform to fill a quota. See Our Tutoring Methodology for more detail on quality standards.
Can I work with the same tutor every session?
Yes. Once you have found a tutor you work well with, you can request them specifically for all future sessions. We accommodate this subject to the tutor’s availability. Regular sessions with the same tutor are generally more effective than rotating between tutors, especially for ongoing coursework.
Sessions and Technology
How does an MPB tutoring session work?
Sessions run on Google Meet with a two-way interactive online whiteboard. Both you and the tutor can write, draw, and annotate on the same board simultaneously. Your tutor works through problems, explains concepts, and responds to your specific questions in real time. After the session, the tutor sends written notes summarising what was covered. No recording is made by MPB — you can record your own session using Google Meet’s built-in feature if you wish.
What technology do I need?
A laptop or tablet with a stable internet connection and a browser. No software installation is required for Google Meet. For the best whiteboard experience, use a device with a stylus — an iPad with Apple Pencil or an Android tablet with a stylus works very well. A mouse is usable but less natural for writing. A mobile phone is too small for effective whiteboard interaction.
What is the difference between scheduled and on-demand sessions?
A scheduled session is booked with a specific tutor at a specific future time — useful for students who need regular tutoring and want consistency. An on-demand session connects you with whichever qualified physics tutor is available for your subject at the time of booking — useful for urgent doubt-clearing or one-off problems. Both are available; tell us which you need when you contact us.
Can sessions be recorded?
You can record the session from your end using Google Meet’s built-in recording feature or your device’s screen recorder. MPB does not record sessions from our end. After every session, your tutor sends written notes via WhatsApp so you have a reference regardless of whether you record.
Are sessions available 24/7?
Our helpline team responds 24/7. Tutor availability varies — most tutors are available across multiple time zones and we can usually match availability within a few hours. For specialised advanced topics, scheduling ahead of time is recommended. The $1 trial can typically be arranged within 24 hours any day of the week.
Subjects, Levels, and Pricing
Does MPB cover advanced physics like Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity?
Yes. MPB is one of the very few tutoring services that genuinely covers research-level physics. Our tutor pool includes physicists with specialist expertise in Quantum Field Theory, General Relativity, Condensed Matter Physics, Particle Physics, Plasma Physics, Cosmology, and other advanced topics. If you are a postgraduate student or independent learner working at this level, we can match you with a tutor who genuinely knows the subject rather than one who is vaguely familiar with it.
Can MPB help with physics for medicine — MCAT Physics, for example?
Yes. MCAT Physics is one of our covered subjects. The MCAT physics section tests conceptual understanding and application of classical mechanics, electricity, fluids, thermodynamics, waves, optics, and nuclear physics. Our tutors are specifically experienced in framing physics in the context medical school applicants need. See our MCAT Physics page for more detail.
What is the starting rate for tutoring?
Tutoring starts at $20/hr for school-level students (Grade 10 and below). College aspirants and AP/IB/A-Level students start at $25/hr. Undergraduate university students start at $30/hr. Postgraduate and research-level students start at $35/hr. For highly specialised topics, tutors may price above the starting tier — the exact rate is always confirmed before any session begins. New students can try 30 minutes for $1. See our full Pricing page.
What payment methods do you accept?
PayPal (guest checkout — no PayPal account needed), credit or debit card via PayPal, UPI (for India), Indian bank transfer, and international bank transfer. All major currencies are accepted. USD is the default. Full details are on the Pricing page.
Is there essay writing help available on MPB?
No. Physics does not typically involve essay writing assignments, and this service is not part of what MPB offers. If you need essay writing guidance in other subjects, visit My Engineering Buddy.
Payments, Cancellations and Refunds
When do I pay — before or after the session?
Always before. Full payment is required to confirm any session. We do not accept payment after delivery under any circumstances. This is clearly stated when you agree the session with our helpline team.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancelled 48+ hours before the session: full refund. Cancelled 24–48 hours before: 90% refund. Cancelled less than 24 hours before: 80% refund. Student no-show: 50% refund. Tutor no-show: full refund or free replacement session at your choice. Full details are on our Refund Policy page.
What if I am dissatisfied with a session?
Contact us within 24 hours of the session via WhatsApp or at care@myphysicsbuddy.com. We will offer either a replacement session with a different tutor or a refund, depending on the circumstances. We take quality seriously — a bad session is a failure on our part and we treat it that way.
How long does a refund take to process?
We acknowledge refund requests within 24 hours and resolve them within 5–7 business days. Refunds are returned to the original payment method. For the $1 trial, refunds are processed immediately upon request.
Academic Integrity and Ethics
Does MPB complete homework or assignments on behalf of students?
No. MPB’s tutoring is focused on teaching — helping students understand physics concepts, work through problems step by step, and develop the skills to tackle similar problems independently. Within sessions, tutors can work through homework problems with students as a learning tool, but the purpose is understanding, not completion. See our Academic Integrity Policy for our full position.
Does MPB help with proctored exams?
No. MPB does not assist with live proctored exams, exam-sitting services, or any form of real-time exam assistance. We help students prepare for exams through tutoring. Taking an exam is the student’s responsibility.
Can MPB help me understand a physics problem I got wrong on a past exam?
Absolutely. Reviewing past exam questions, understanding where your reasoning went wrong, and building the conceptual understanding to get them right next time is exactly what tutoring sessions are for. This is one of the most effective uses of a tutoring session.
What is MPB’s position on academic honesty?
MPB’s services aim to provide personalised academic guidance, helping students understand physics concepts and improve their skills. Materials discussed in sessions and any written notes provided are for reference and learning purposes only. Students are responsible for ensuring their use of tutoring complies with their institution’s academic integrity policies. See our full Academic Integrity Policy.
